Initially based in the Research & Development team in Pau, France, for 3-4 years, before transferring to Paris to manage specialist teams and electrical experts supporting the core E&P teams, this is a key role where you will:
R&D in Pau
Collaborate with the R&D strategy teams concerning the application of high-frequency technology to E&P projects and provide input to the research budgeting process.
Contribute to the search & selection of suitable external research partners within your field.
Contribute to the definition, supervision and validation of the electrical elements of experiments and research projects and collaborate with internal and external researchers to define research programmes.
Keep abreast of technological developments related to electronic and electrical engineering and their industrial applications.
Operations in Paris
Use your technical expertise to advise and contribute to the full range of E&P stages from planning (conceptualisation & design) and implementation of E&P studies to contributing to the tendering process through defining the tender specification documents and providing technical clarifications, right through to conducting technical reviews of projects. You will see all stages of E&P projects in this way and gain practical, end-to-end experience.
Evaluate and update technical specifications within your field of expertise and prepare or edit technical documents and reports relating to your activities.
Analyse and diagnose any problem of incident of a technical nature and recommend solutions.
Advise other specialists, when required, about electrical engineering.
This is a challenging role that offers plenty of opportunity for growth and interaction with other key specialists within the E&P team. In time there will also be opportunities for secondments abroad or transfers to foreign subsidiaries and project teams.
Training and skills
Will hold a PhD, MSc or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Will be very familiar with Electrical Engineering codes, standards, applications, the design of industrial electrical networks and microwave frequencies.
Will be fluent in both spoken and written English and have some knowledge of French.
Experience:
Will have a significant level of experience in industrial Electrical Engineering and ideally the Oil and Gas industry, as well as a background in research.
Will have a high level of awareness of Health and Safety issues and ensure that this is incorporated into all your activities.
